Only after a management survey or a refurbishment survey has been carried out to identify asbestos can a re-inspection survey be conducted.
Once asbestos containing materials have been identified from the initial survey, a plan to manage the asbestos can be drawn up. It may be recommended to leave asbestos containing materials where they were found if the risk presented is considered low; this is usually the case for materials that are relatively inaccessible or they are in good condition.
Asbestos-containing materials should then be monitored for damage or condition deterioration. Asbestos re-inspection surveys at regular intervals may be recommended in the management plan. Asbestos surveys will include a visual inspection of asbestos containing materials and a new risk assessment to determine any further action possibly required will be provided.
