Our New Certificate – Licence to Undertake Work with Asbestos
With asbestos classed as a category 1 carcinogen and related to over 5000 deaths (asbestos related diseases) a year in the UK alone, it is important as a business that we attain an Asbestos Licence.
This licence allows us to deal with asbestos in conditions that involve significant hazard, risk or public concern.
At the same time, this licence highlights that we adhere to health and safety law and recognise that the ‘legal duty to manage risk lies with the organisation that creates them’.
Our New Certificate – Licence to Undertake Work with Asbestos
Awarded by the HSE, our new certificate clearly showcases our commitment to the safe disposal of waste.
Whenever we make a quote for a new job, our customers can request to see this certificate before accepting our submission; whilst in turn they can request its presence at all of our worksites.
Yet this is not all…
This certificate also ensures we do the following:
- At least 14 days before work starts, we shall give written notice of our work to the HSE or your local authority office. Within this notice we will indicate the type of work we’ll perform; the duration of the job; the location/address of the work and the date work will start. NOTE: this will only apply to ‘licensable work with asbestos as defined in Regulation 2 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.’
- We will provide a written statement of our plan of action, and a specification of the equipment we’ll use (for the protection and decontamination of those working with asbestos).
At every avenue, we aim to make our licencing certificate available for viewing, so you can be reassured that we are ready, prepared and most importantly approved for work with asbestos.
